A welcome to winter – and the ultimate winter shoe collection

I’ve talked a lot in previous posts about my love for the seasons and the changes that take place during the calendar year as the days lengthen and then shorten.

My pick of the changes is, firstly, the food, and secondly (a very close second) the wardrobe switch. Last year as spring was rolling in I deviated briefly from my food and travel posts to write about my spring/summer shoe collection. It was such a popular post that I thought today I’d share with you my winter boot/shoe collection, along with some of the top pics from my wardrobe for the coming season.

I’m more excited about writing this post than I was last spring because my winter shoe collection is by far my favourite – for the simple reason that I have a huge weakness for boots.

I realise many of my followers are currently enjoying much warmer temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere. But this post is to remind you that when the weather cools not all is lost – there is always boots to look forward to!

So for all my girls out there – here goes:

The Heeled Ankle Boot

I always like to have a pair of both black and neutral ankle boots with a good heel – great with trousers, jeans or skirts. So versatile. The black boots are from Trenery (one of my favourite brands at the moment). The neutral boots are from Aldo; I bought them when I was in London at Christmastime. Both are in leather – very important to me.

The Flat Ankle Boot

I cannot tell you how much I love these boots. Although I tend towards a heel because I’m quite short I love a boot with a low heel, particularly on weekends when I might be out for the day and want to be comfortable. They look fantastic with boyfriend jeans. These boots are again from Trenery and are in a gorgeous Nubuck leather. The colour is called “cognac”. How cool is that?

The Knee Boot

My winter wardrobe would not be complete without a pair of knee boots. I’m aware that over-the-knee is the big on-trend thing at the moment but they’re not my cup of tea. I much prefer a knee-high boot. These boots I bought from Mischief Shoes and are by Bruno Premi. They’re perfect. Just perfect. I absolutely love the colour – not exactly sure what you’d call it – ideas anyone??

The Winter Slingback

I’ve always loved a slingback and this is a great winter version. They elevate any outfit and look stunning with skirts or tailored trousers. Perfect for evening as well. Love this shoe! It is also my final offering from Trenery. How many ways can I tell you how much I love this brand?

The Loafer

I believe that every woman should have a loafer in her wardrobe. For my spring/summer collection I have a gorgeous pair in a light neutral colour. For my winter loafer I went for this fabulous tan. I’m a navy girl and navy with tan or camel is a match made in heaven. Throw on a pair of jeans with a blazer and a pair of loafers and you have instant style, every time.

And there you have it – the ultimate winter footwear collection that will take you through the season, from work to weekends, from day to evening, and will beautifully finish off any outfit.

And while I’m talking the winter wardrobe I thought I’d share with you what I’m loving the most from my wardrobe this season. Two of my favourite brands at the moment are Trenery (really??) and Sportscraft. I’ve selected a couple of my most loved pieces from each brand.

The Puffer

For some time I’ve been wanting to invest in a puffer jacket. Very on-trend at the moment. And navy being my favourite colour this was a no-brainer. I particularly love the stud detailing and the elasticated gathering at the back.

The Blazer

I bought this blazer last weekend on a shopping trip with my mother and sister-in-law. I haven’t worn it yet hence the tag is still in place. I don’t know what it is but I get great pleasure from having something hanging in my wardrobe with the tag still on. I think it’s the anticipation of wearing it for the first time. I realise for many women the black blazer is a staple for the winter wardrobe but I much prefer navy. And this blazer is perfect. Dress down with jeans or dress up with tailored trousers, a skirt or over a dress. Love, love, love!

The Skirt

I’m loving the deep colours on offer this season. This dark forest green skirt is so flattering, looks great with any of my boots or the slingback. It is also stunning paired with navy. Love the draping at the front.

The Tailored TrouserP1010308

These dark plum trousers are another favourite (not sure I quite got the colour right in this photo – a bit deeper in real life). Done in a quality cotton with a great cut they wear beautifully and the colour really pops. I love to wear these with a tailored shirt and my black slingbacks – very chic.

And, of course, don’t forget accessories. Here’s a few of my favourites:

The neutral scarf was a birthday gift from my parents. They bought it while on holiday in Ireland. It’s 100% wool and is so soft and luxurious. The handbag is from Colette Hayman. The tan cross body bag looks fabulous worn with my navy puffer. The Thomas Sabo pendant necklace was a Christmas present from my husband. I wear it all the time – love, love, love!

Happy winter!

  1. What a wonderful shoe collection. And it’s great inspiration to see what someone else wears. I love winter either way but also prefer winter fashion over summer fashion because you can layer and wear more items. Lovely post, thank you for sharing Tracey.
